Get the Scoop on the Bridal Party's Look
Flying V Ranch, Decatur, TX
January 20, 2018
Not only did I get to witness my very talented friend, Alethea of Petals & Pastels get married, but it was also the first time where I got to see my dresses walk down the aisle! It was a pretty special moment and I loved every minute of it! Alethea had seven beautiful bridesmaids who all wore the Leighton skirt in Blue Harbor paired with their own white sweaters. January in Texas can be a little unpredictable with the weather and we were definitely nervous because there was rain in the forecast. However, nothing was keeping this gorgeous wedding from happening. The sky cleared and the ground dried and she had the most unbelievable outdoor ceremony at Flying V Ranch. Check out her gorgeous wedding details below!

Get the Scoop on the Bridal Party's Look
From the moment you get engaged, it’s all parties, dinners, brunches, soirees, and showing off the ring. So, we’ve put together some outfit ideas and tips to help you plan ahead for these great events leading up to the most important of them all.
The engagement party is all about sharing the news with your loved ones, and though they’re going to be asking to see the ring foremost, as a bride-to-be, you want to start owning the spotlight.
The Ainsley skirt in Gold Sequin
Pair a sparkly midi skirt with a simple, solid color top to add some balance to your overall look. Accessorize it with some neutral colors and don’t forget a manicure to show that ring off!
The Vienna Skirt in Off-white paired with the Serena top in Blush
Or go for a romantic, daytime chic look in a lace mermaid skirt or a pencil skirt. Show it off with an off-the-shoulder top, and get ready to talk all about the proposal!
The Bachelorette Party
For your bachelorette party, you want to have fun and feel confident and sexy before it’s time to tie the knot. So, allow yourself to stand out and have fun with your look!
The Joelle skirt in Rose Gold Sequin
Pair a chic and fun skirt with a solid top you can tuck inside the skirt, and show a little skin on your shoulders. If you plan to have a nighttime Bachelorette party, pair the skirt with a darker and fitted top; like a long sleeve black crop top. Accent it with some nude stilettos and pearl accessories.
The Sloane Dress in Charcoal Sequin
Or dazzle the night in an all sequin short dress! A shorter length will make it easier for dancing and move around if a night out is in your plans.
The Bridal Shower
For the bridal shower, a smaller and family oriented affair, you may want to portray a more classic and romantic look. Take your millennial pink and flowy pieces out, and create a soft and dainty look. Make your soon-to-be bridal glow and gleam!
The Keaton Midi skirt in English Rose and the Evie top in Black
For this occasion, we pulled out a pink flowy midi skirt paired with a soft chiffon v-neck top. Wear it with a fun stiletto heel and your favorite gold accessories.
The Seraphina dress in Rose Quartz
Not feeling like putting two separate pieces together? Just slip into your prettiest ruffle dress, and take everyone’s breath away!
The rehearsal dinner is the build-up moment for your Big Day. Traditionally, the bride wears all white for this dinner event, as she is, of course, the bride. Yet, it’s also your opportunity to wear separate pieces, short dresses, fitted silhouettes and little hints of color!
The Zenia top in Off-white paired with the Leighton maxi skirt in Ivory
Steal the night in an all-white pre-bridal look with a long white skirt and a lace top. And if you want to take away the seriousness of the look, add colorful shoes and fun accessories that show your own personality.
The Evie top in Off-white paired with the Audriana midi skirt in Off-white
Or leave the dreamy tulle for the big day go for a midi length skirt and a light v-neck chiffon top in white.
The post-wedding brunch is all about finally relaxing! All that hard work and planning leading up to the big day has paid off, now it’s time to sit back, relax and reminisce about everything that went down during the wedding day.
The Serena top in Platinum
Lay back in an off-the-shoulder breezy shirt and a solid flirty, skater skirt. Add a touch of blush to your accessories, shoes or lips.
The Keaton Short Skirt in English Rose paired with the Anisten Reversible top in Off-white
Or throw in a flowy knee skirt with a flowy chiffon top and call it a day! Pair it with some flats or comfortable wedges and you’ll look relaxed but also poised and put together.
Once you’re engaged and planning your wedding, everything tends to go extremely fast, and it could become a bit overwhelming. By planning out your outfits and having all of your pieces together, you can save yourself a lot of unnecessary stress and be on time for all of your affairs.

It’s Mother’s Day and I’ve been waiting a few months to write this post. I was surfing Poshmark one night and came across some Vintage bridesmaid dresses that my mom had designed. How cool is it that her designs are still selling after 20+ years? I decided I wanted to write a blog post as an ode to my mom on Mother’s Day. This is perfect timing to reflect on my experience being raised by a designer mother since Love Tanya’s one year anniversary is coming up.
I remember when I was just 7 years old, my mom would be draping dresses in the garage with her sewer, Rita. They would often work late into the night since that is when she was most creative. I loved seeing how her designs would turn out from start to finish. I really enjoyed watching the burst of excitement when she would think of a new idea. She actually had a little happy dance – lol.Fast forward to today and it’s amazing to see how her designs forever changed the bridesmaid industry. Everyone else was still making big, poufy sleeves and taffeta dresses, but she was the first to introduce Dupioni silk and two-piece dresses. In case you missed it, two-piece dresses have been making a big come back recently! As a kid, I loved watching her select new trims like fabric flower pins, pearl buttons, and embellished straps. I feel like could actually see her wheels spinning in her head as she began the creative process.I was also lucky enough to go to her photoshoots in exotic places (and miss school for it!). My favorite one was in Mirabella, Spain at a gorgeous Spanish castle. Afterward, we went to eat the most delicious paella I’ve ever had. When we got home to Dallas, I would look forward to sitting in her design room with the lights out, selecting the best pictures for her catalog. Back then there were no digital cameras so we had to select from picture negatives that were made into slides. I would help her put the slides into the carousel because I couldn’t wait to see the images!
It’s because of her perseverance and determination that she became an overnight success which enabled me to have an excellent education. When we first came to Dallas, we lived in a low-income apartment complex, but by the mid-90s I was able to attend a local private school. I feel blessed on this Mother’s Day and hope that I am making her proud. May we all remember our mother’s selflessness and sacrifices to provide a good life for us. – love, tanya
The recent photoshoot with Luisa’s Secret has been one of my favorite ones to date! Not only was I able to see my vision come to life, but I was lucky enough to experience the endless, upbeat energy between Luisa and Douglas that inspired the models to take such beautiful photos. There are so many amazing things that came together to make this shoot happen!!
For one, working with Luisa and Douglas was a dream! I had been Instagram stalking them for awhile and decided to reach out to them randomly. I was so excited when they said yes! They are so captivating to watch while they work. They each have their own camera and they move around individually, yet together as if in an unspoken choreographed dance. They are both beautiful people, inside and out, just building their dream career and helping lift up people like me in the process. Oh! And they brought their own glitter!!
The models are actually fellow Alpha Xi Delta sisters from Texas Tech. While in college, I was reluctant to rush a sorority, but I went through the process because I believe in trying everything at least once. Little did I know that I would be making a lifelong relationship with thousands and thousands of AXiDs across the nation! It is so fun having my sorority sisters be a part of this journey and I love hearing them daydream over their “real wedding” one day.
The day before this shoot, I was attending the Swoon Event at Jefferson Tower. My booth was next to Katie Bug Florals who designs absolutely stunning arrangements. She was headed out of town and was going to throw out her flowers from the show. Oh, the tragedy! I asked if I could take them for my photoshoot, and she said yes! I love when things just come together naturally.
Finally, the story behind the venue. When I started planning my first photo shoot a year ago, I had no clue where to go. So I reached out to my high school alumni office to see if I could use their studio space (I went to an artsy school). They referred me to some fellow high school alumnae that are Dallas photographers and have a studio for rent. That’s why you’ll often see me shooting at the Lumen Room.
So many personal connections made this shoot happen and I am overjoyed with the outcome. It’s amazing that I can grow my own business while still supporting the local community. I hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about my favorite shoot! Be sure to check out all of the vendors that made it possible.
It's an exciting time to be a bridesmaid! The days of looking like a clone and only wearing a dress once are long gone. Dresses with open backs, glamorous fit-and-flare skirts, sexy off the shoulder tops, two-piece ensembles and midi lengths are just a few ways to give your bridal party a fresh take. Scroll down to check out styles your bridal party will actually wear again, long after the hangover is over ;)
Is there anything more amazing than a beautiful dress with a stunning back? Yeah, I didn't think so either! Since most people will be viewing your bridesmaids back while they walk down the aisle, it only makes sense that open backs are a trend that isn't going away anytime soon. I love the Adele, Sloane and Piper dress from my new collection.
FIT & FLARE
Fit & Flare skirts are a great way to give your body shape and show off your curves. This glamorous trend has stood the test of time and it's one that I don't see going anywhere anytime soon. Check out the Portia, Vienna, and Joelle from my new collection.
OFF THE SHOULDER
Off the shoulder is so on trend right now. Did you know it was one of the most googled fashion trends in 2016? A sure sign that it is HOT for 2017! The Serena and Zenia tops are two of my favorite styles from my new collection.
At first glance, a two-piece bridesmaid dress may be an unusual choice, however, your bridal party will thank you because most two-piece styles can be worn again, and they will save on alterations since they can choose a different size top and bottom. Choose a mix-and-match lace and tulle number for a romantic vibe, or go for bold with a two-piece that shows a sliver of skin. My faves are the Evie top paired with the Chloe skirt, the Millie top and Leighton skirt, and the Kendall top with the Keaton skirt.
MIDI LENGTH SKIRTS
Midi length dresses and skirts are having a serious moment. This semi-formal length gives off fun, retro vibes but still feels sophisticated. In addition to the Chloe and Keaton midi skirts shown above, I'm totally in love with the Audriana lace midi (shown with the Evie top) and the Leighton tulle midi (paired with the Audrey top).
I hope you've enjoyed my outlook on 2017 Bridesmaid Trends. If you want to view more, check out the sneak peek of my new collection here. - love, tanya
