Yay, I'm certified!
I am so proud to announce that Love Tanya has been nationally certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Council - Southwest, a regional certifying partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
Women's entrepreneurship has been on the rise in the U.S. for the last two decades and I am proud to be a part of this movement. It was important to me to get certified to let everyone know that I fully support nurturing independence and empowerment in women all over the world.

It’s Mother’s Day and I’ve been waiting a few months to write this post. I was surfing Poshmark one night and came across some Vintage bridesmaid dresses that my mom had designed. How cool is it that her designs are still selling after 20+ years? I decided I wanted to write a blog post as an ode to my mom on Mother’s Day. This is perfect timing to reflect on my experience being raised by a designer mother since Love Tanya’s one year anniversary is coming up.
I remember when I was just 7 years old, my mom would be draping dresses in the garage with her sewer, Rita. They would often work late into the night since that is when she was most creative. I loved seeing how her designs would turn out from start to finish. I really enjoyed watching the burst of excitement when she would think of a new idea. She actually had a little happy dance – lol.Fast forward to today and it’s amazing to see how her designs forever changed the bridesmaid industry. Everyone else was still making big, poufy sleeves and taffeta dresses, but she was the first to introduce Dupioni silk and two-piece dresses. In case you missed it, two-piece dresses have been making a big come back recently! As a kid, I loved watching her select new trims like fabric flower pins, pearl buttons, and embellished straps. I feel like could actually see her wheels spinning in her head as she began the creative process.I was also lucky enough to go to her photoshoots in exotic places (and miss school for it!). My favorite one was in Mirabella, Spain at a gorgeous Spanish castle. Afterward, we went to eat the most delicious paella I’ve ever had. When we got home to Dallas, I would look forward to sitting in her design room with the lights out, selecting the best pictures for her catalog. Back then there were no digital cameras so we had to select from picture negatives that were made into slides. I would help her put the slides into the carousel because I couldn’t wait to see the images!
It’s because of her perseverance and determination that she became an overnight success which enabled me to have an excellent education. When we first came to Dallas, we lived in a low-income apartment complex, but by the mid-90s I was able to attend a local private school. I feel blessed on this Mother’s Day and hope that I am making her proud. May we all remember our mother’s selflessness and sacrifices to provide a good life for us. – love, tanya
The wait is finally over! I'm so excited to announce the launch of my first bridesmaid collection! I couldn't have done it without the love and support of my family and friends. I've been working day and night for the past 9 months to create this gorgeous collection and it has truly been a labor of love. Taking a cue from my designer mother, I focused on styles that you can truly wear again. Here are some highlights from my first collection!
Nothing exudes laid back chic like a breezy silhouette. Blurring the lines between ready to wear and bridal, my dresses can easily transition off the aisle to long after the wedding. I love pairing soft, feminine details with long flowy skirts. Your bridesmaids will love that most of the dresses do not have boning or cups for extra comfort.
If you're an unconventional bride who wants to push the envelope on your wedding day, take a cue from ready-to-wear trends and consider bridesmaid separates. By allowing your ‘maids to choose a different size top and skirt, they’re likely to avoid expensive alterations. The best part? Your bridesmaids can really wear their separates again!
Glitz & Glam
Metallics aren’t just for holiday weddings anymore. This is a trend from 2016 that isn’t going anywhere! I love the variety of ways you can bring a little sparkle to your big day. From silver to gold to champagne, these ensembles are a gorgeous addition to any big day in a big way. Try matte gold or matte rose gold for a more subtle shimmer.
I hope you've enjoyed the little sneak peek of my first collection! You can see more gorgeous separates and dresses by clicking here. - love, tanya
Me? A Boss Lady? Ha! I never would have imagined going out on my own, but here I am, taking a leap of faith. When they said life is a journey - they weren't lying! Every decision I've made, and experience I've had has lead me here. Late last year I decided to launch my own bridesmaid collection under my own namesake. Making this enormous decision was not easy, and I've felt so many emotions since then (excitement, fear, anxiety, happiness), but knowing that my friends and family believe in me has helped tremendously!
Let me back up a second and tell you my story. I am the daughter of a very talented designer who founded an award winning bridal company back in 1986. The eighties were all about big sleeves and taffeta dresses, but my mom took a risk and created the original two piece bridesmaid dress that you could truly wear again. Can you believe 30 years later, bridesmaid separates are coming back in such a big way?
I never in a million years thought that I'd be launching my own bridesmaid collection but never say never. I've always had a tug of war between my right and left brain. In college I changed majors every year - starting in the art school and ending up in the finance school. It's a head scratcher I know :) My interests in both the creative and science of life continued as I worked in accounting, finance, marketing, merchandising and design.
Looking back I realize I've been preparing for this venture my whole life. The only thing holding me back was me! Finally I realized that the only path to happiness is to listen to my intuition, follow my dreams and believe in myself. It's only now that all of my experiences have led me to follow in my mom's footsteps and become an entrepreneur. I hope you'll join me on my journey as I blog about my new collection, upcoming events and tricks of the trade. - love, tanya
